Why does red dye keep running out of new clothes….?

Not really sure why it keeps bleeding, but we always soak red garments in a solution of a gallon water to 1 cut salt. Start with warm water so the salt dissolves well, put the garment in and leave it for several hours. Rinse well. It sets the color.
