Why does Placon fly the Chinese flag outside its building, along with the United States and Wisconsin flags?
A Placon, the manufacturing company at 6096 McKee Road, does indeed fly three flags outside its building, but Placon CEO Dan Mohs said the reason for that is pretty straightforward. “We make about 95 percent of our stuff in Madison, Wisconsin, and the other five percent in Suzhou, China,” he said. Suzhou is in the Jiangsu province in eastern China. Founded in 1966, Placon has more than 400 employees in its two locations and manufactures medical, retail and food packaging. Placon is not alone in sporting flags of other countries. Stoughton celebrates its Norwegian heritage by lining Main Street with Norwegian flags every year from May 1 through November 11.
