Why does PHC require participation in the Cultural Data Project?
The Cultural Data Project strengthens the arts and cultural sector by collecting and disseminating comprehensive, high-quality longitudinal data that supports fact-based decision-making. It supports advocacy, enabling advocates, researchers and policy makers to better tell the story of the sector’s assets, contributions and needs. It also advances philanthropy by helping grantmakers more effectively plan for and evaluate their individual and collective grantmaking activities. By participating in CDP, PHC Small Grant and Large Grant applicants contribute valuable information about the public humanities and the role that they play. Last, it helps arts and cultural organizations improve their financial management and services to the community. Not only are participants able to generate funder reports, they can also access reports that reveal trends and allow them to benchmark with their peers.
