Why does PeakTrace product .scf file and not .ab1 file like LongTrace?
The reason for this is PeakTrace supports a much wide range of ABI instruments including the ABI 377 and 3700. The trace files from these instruments do not contain the internal fields required for including DNA base quality scores. The PeakTrace:Box system does allow you to select .ab1 output for instruments that do include the base quality fields (ie ABI 3100, 3130, 3730 and 3730xl) if you wish.
