Panasonic designed the variable frame rate camera due to the high request of the film customers. A digital camera also has to be compatible to existing standards and products. There is actually only one standard which fulfills a requirement of a high Frame rate at 60 progressive Frames and a resolution of 1280×720. A standard of 1920×1080 is not able to handle a progressive Frame rate higher than 30p.
