Why does our federal government pick out what laws and guidelines it wants to enforce and ignore others?
If congress grants amnesty, then that would be the law and it is difficult to say the congress is ignoring the law by making a law. As to the current situation, every year there is a budget and that budget controls what efforts are made by government agents. The budget for immigration control is miniscule, for several reasons. One, any talk of increasing the budget also means increasing taxes and the same people that want more done do not want to pay for it. Second, we are currently spending 10 billion per month in Iraq. That money is not available for other purposes.
