Passengers in a car accident get tossed around in the car abruptly when they are involved in an accident. They may not appear physically harmed or injured, but that does not mean that they have not done some form of damage to their muscles. Many times in a car accident, the passengers in the car will pull muscles and sprain ligaments because they are tossed around. Naturally, the body tenses up as a way to protect itself and this causes a lot of strain on the muscles. Some victims in car accidents will not even feel any pain until a few days after the accident when their muscles relax. The pain and stiffness caused by an automobile accident is often worse the day or two after the accident. Afterwards, the patient should feel steadily better and if not, then he/she should contact their doctor as soon as possible. The best thing to do to a pulled or strained muscle is to relax it and apply ice about 4 or 5 times per day.
