Why does one CO2 metric ton cost 20 euros with Action Carbone?
The previous Action Carbone voluntary offsetting rate was set at a price that made it possible to rise the awareness of companies and individuals to the carbon offsetting. There are several structural reasons that supported the decision to change the cost per CO2 metric ton to 20 euros starting on June 9, 2008. Until now, Action Carbone financed greenhouse gas emission reduction projects at the rate of 15 euros per metric ton of CO2 equivalent reduced each year (tCO2e). The program was, in fact, the least expensive French operator in the market. Therefore, once the operation costs were deducted (15%), each NGO project participant collected 12.75 euros for one metric ton of CO2, which was offset by the projects they carried out. Today, new internal and external constraints are leading us to change this rate. 1- Integrating the cost of a more rigorous verification into the projects To structure our offer and guarantee the very high quality of the financed offsetting projects, Action Carb
