Why does Nokian talk about “winter tires” instead of “snow tires”?

We use the term “winter tires” instead of “snow tires” because they are designed to work in winter conditions, not just snow. The tire compounds are optimized to provide grip even on dry roads in weather below 40 degrees. All Season compounds get hard in colder weather thus hindering grip. And obviously, winter tread patterns are designed to provide excellent grip and bite in ice and snowy conditions.
