Hygiene and no discipline. It is all willy nilly in hospitals. It used to be strict regime both with the nurses and visitors. Cleanliness was top of the list. Matron saw to that. No sitting on beds. Two to a bed. These days they have all the family there. I visited my mother three days ago, she is on an oxygen machine and in the next bed a woman was smoking. She had the cigarettes taken off her, but think of what could have happened. She would not have gone as far as to light on if there had been a beady eyes efficient matron around. It makes you scared to go into hospital. My mom is 93 she went in last Monday because she fell. So lying there frail with a fractured arm and in shock – 4 days later she has contracted that bug and is seriously ill. We have not been allowed to visit for several days. Talk about closing the stable door after the horse has bolted.
