Why does NAR offer At Home With Diversity®?
The marketplace is diversifying every day. Immigrants and minorities are a major source of business for the real estate industry. According to the Selig Center for Economic Growth at the University of Georgia, the total minority buying power in the U.S was $1.5 trillion in 2002. Homeownership rates among immigrants are also rising at rates such that, minorities will account for an estimated two-thirds of the new household growth in the United States in the next ten years. At Home With Diversity® was the first step in a process NAR began in 1998 to enhance the association’s comprehensive diversity initiative to better accomplish its goals. Specifically, the training enhances the ability those involved in the real estate transaction to develop clients and customers in the growing immigrant and minority population.
