I’m not personally familiar with the Wii, but my suggestion would be to ask around, if possible, until you can locate someone with the same system and ask to borrow a control very briefly. Other than that, if returning the system to the store and asking for a refund is not an option, I would go to that store, buy a control, test it, and if it works keep it. Otherwise, return it for your money back. Sources: Just my opinion.
