Why does my throat feeze up when drinking a liquid to fast but i never get brain freeze?

I never get brain freeze either, ocassionally I get the throat freeze thing too but not often, I never get in any hurry with eating or drinking. I’m just naturally a slow eater/drinker. Back to the question…for me I guess it’s because the liquid or whatever actually touches the throat.
