Why does my printer need magenta ink to print grayscale?

All the base colours are required to print on today’s printers. Although you have a black cartridge that is just another base colour now. The other base colours are required to print the varying shades of black or shades of grey. Computers on 32 bit colour now produce 16,000,000 colours a bit up from when they first came out just producing 16 colours or just monochrome. Printers now have to do the same because they are reproducing what you see on the screen. Well as near as damn it! That’s why printers now require all the cartridges to have ink in them to work.
