First and most importantly, I’m going to challenge the assumption that because you’re left handed you need to use a left handed guitar. ALL BEGINNERS STRUGGLE HEAPS! Just spend some time here on Y!A and you’ll see from the questions that all beginners have a hard time and the guitar feels awkward at first. The fact is that you use both hands equally when you play guitar. Either way you learn, one of your hands is going to have a struggle. Lefties can….and do learn on normal guitars all the time. Guitar is no more or less right or left oriented than a piano….you don’t see left handed pianos! If you learn lefty, all the instructional material is going to be backwards. Your choices of instruments will be limited and hard to find. You won’t be able to play or even try out other people’s guitars.
