Why does my golden retriever act aggressively towards most other dogs?
I know why your dog is doing that. He hasn’t learnt the rules of play. My dog was the same, he would lunge at other dogs and bark at them and his hairs stood up. I took him to a pet psychiatrist, they said he hadn’t learnt the rules of play and showed me how to teach him. I had to call my dog to me, make him sit and if he did as I asked I gave him a treat. Toys were brought in to the exercise and my dog had to fetch the toy and bring it back, if he brought it back without being aggressive I gave him a treat. My perseverance paid off as the days went by, my dog was able to bring his toys without being aggressive. I then put what I had learnt into the outside. I took treats out with me and whenever another dog came into view I showed my dog the reward and told him, long before the dog got near TO LEAVE and repeated it again and again and tugged on the lead as I said it. When my dog remained interested in the treat and didn’t behave aggressively towards the other dog, I rewarded him. It w
