Q. For the past 15 years my face has been red. Its not painful but people think I have just returned from the islands or went to a tanning salon. I am a Caucasian male and the rest of my body is clearly white including the neck area. It the face that is constantly red. I don’t have acne or any rash. I was exposed to the sun many years ago and it resembles a constant sun burn. How can I get relief from this and what is the cure for this? A. You may be having Ruds syndrome characterised by red faces with blond hairs and freckles. Since, it is a genetic defect, no treatment is possible. 25 February 2005Answered by Dr. D.M.
