Why does my dog alwyas want to eat the grass in the backyard?
There are a few reasons why dogs eat grass. A common reason for some dogs is that they have an upset tummy and ingest the grass to induce vomiting. This is very common but it usually occurs with dogs who don’t normally eat grass EVERY time they are on it. Dogs who eat grass every time MAY have a digestive issue, but it’s more likely that they just simply like to eat grass, simple as that. I’d discourage eating grass especially if it’s been treated with any kind of chemicals like fertilizer or weed killers. If you think he might have an upset tummy (and sometimes this is the only sign) then have him checked by a vet and have a blood panel done. Ask for an inflammation marker test which can show inflammation in the pancreas or intestines. If all is normal, he might just like the taste of it.
