Why does my computer disconnect from ToadNet sometimes?
ToadNet has a 30 minute idle timer, and Windows 95/98 has one as well. You may be disconnected after a period of inactivity; this is to prevent users from tying up resources if they forget to log off. There is a bug in the Windows 95 idle timer that requires mouse activity to prevent disconnection. It is not sufficient to be downloading a file to prevent disconnection. To disable Windows 95’s idle timer, go into My Computer->Dialup Networking, and right click on your ToadNet dialup connection. Under Configure->Connection, you can disable the option that says, “Disconnect a call if idle for more than ‘x’ minutes”.
