Why does my columbian shark only eat at night?

0

Mine will eat during the day, but may scavenge at night also, I have never payed that much attention to it because i see him eating during the day. They are a catfish though and most species of catfish are nocturnal, so this may be the case, mine might just be adapted to my feeding schedule. As long as your fish is eating I wouldn’t worry about it. The main thing of concern with Colombian sharks is that they are really a brackish/marine fish. As juveniles they will live in freshwater, but quickly need to have salt added to the water as they age, eventually becoming totally brackish. When they get older they can even be converted to a full marine environment, but all this happens gradually along the coarse of the fishes life. This is usually not explained to people that buy them as freshwater fish, but to get the full life expectancy out of the fish, this is what has to happen. Good luck and e-mail me if you have any questions.
