Why does my black labrador attack other dogs for no reason?
First off, we need more info – secondly did the dog go to puppy socialising classes – if not bad move, if it did, did it have a bad expereience i.e. other dogs attack it etc. Your dog sounds as though it doesn’t trust other dogs and needs to be socialised with no aggressive dogs on lead – start off walking it on lead with a owner of a non dominate dog and it will get use to it then gradually introduce it to other good natured dogs but never let it off lead until you are 100% sure that it will not attack. This all takes time and patience.
There is always a reason! Dogs don’t just wake up one day and decide to attack other dogs. Also if he has done this more than once, you shouldn’t be letting him off in public anymore as this sort of event can have a lasting effect on someone elses dog. You need to seek Professional help from a trainer or behaviourist so resolve the problem or be shown how to manage it. We’d need more details from you to understand why he is doing this.
