Yes, that is perfectly normal. The more intensive your usage, the hotter the components get – and the faster the fans have to run. Most laptops have a power management utility that allows you to turn on something to the effect of “Silent Mode”, where your CPU is underclocked to prevent it from getting hot enough that the fan has to speed up. However, that will impede your computer’s performance.
