Why does my alternater belt squeal when it is working ?

Sometimes when a belt (especially a serpentine one) has alot of miles on it regardless if it is still working or not,the belt gets a glazing over which will cause it to squeal. You could spray all the belt dressing in the world on it,and the squeal will just come back.Other times your belt is just loose. That will cause belt squeal too.Belts are cheap,if you havent replaced it in awhile, replace it and make sure the belt tensioner is adjusted correctly at the same time.Good luck.
