Why does my 2005 Corolla CE hesitate every time I accelerate and hit around 40 mph?

My 2005 Corolla CE has automatic transmission. Every time my car hits 30-40 mph it hesitates and vibrates a little when accelerating into the next gear, and it continues to do this the faster I go. I am going to bring it into a Toyota service center to have it looked at. I was hoping to have an idea as to what the problem might be beforehand so I seem like an educated car owner. I am a 27 yr old female and sometimes I feel like mechanics take advantage of the fact that I might not know a lot about cars. I would just like to go in there knowing at least a few options as to what might be wrong with my vehicle. Any help would be greatly appreciated! A: You could have low automatic transmission fluid,or your air filter may be plugged. It’s hard to tell for sure without a mechanic putting a machine on it,but usually if there’s anything sensor related or internally wrong with the engine or transmission,it will make the check engine light come on,so it’s probably something simple.
