Why does my 2002 dodge 2500 diesel exhaust white smoke when hauling a traler downhill?
When you say hauling downhill are you running with your foot off the gas pedal and using the engine for braking. In that situation if your valve guides were worn the engine would suck oil down the guides and burn the oil. This could give you a mass of white smoke, usually accompanied by the smell of burning oil.
