Why does my 15 month old bang her head when she doesn get what she wants?
I feel for you… been there and STILL there! My daughter started throwing her head back into whatever happened to be behind her when she was about 8 months old. It’s gotten a lot better since then but at 18 months we still have to swoosh our hands beneath her head when she gets upset because we know that she might flip out and toss her head at any second. She has also hit her head with her hands and with her toys from time to time when she gets really frustrated. Unfortunately, it’s normal and I’ve read and been told by her Ped. that no one really knows why kids do this and you just have to wait it out doing everything you can to keep them safe (my husband jokingly suggested buying her a little helmet; hmmm…). My daughter has beat her head really hard into stuff before and then gotten so upset about it she’s stopped, wailed about her head and continued beating her head! She did it in public once where she threw herself onto the floor and tossed her head back onto hard flooring but l
