Three reasons: • Being a Java application, the Java Virtual Machine must first be loaded before any part of the MovieFinder program is executed. • Executable .jar files are compressed files that must be decompressed before accessed (similar to .zip formats). • The graphical components must custom override each and every button/checkbox in the MovieFinder program to give it the color/appearance that you prefer.
