By default on stereo dual-screen UNIX systems, MicroStation will try to open up windows on both monitors. Unfortunately however, MicroStation is not compatible with all X11 visual types, in particular the visual type DirectColor. This incompatibility causes MicroStation to crash with the message “MicroStation aborting with signal type 11”. To solve this, the easiest is to continue with the installation of the PRO600 software. PRO600 sets a configuration variable that prevents MicroStation from trying to open windows on both screens. The variable is MS_DISPLAYSCREEN=0, set in the file $MS/config/appl/pro600.cfg.
