Why does mary shelley give 3 points of veiw in the frankenstein novel?
This might not be exactly what you’re looking for because it’s more my opinion than anything… Walton provides a setting and an ending for the story that can’t be given by Frankenstein or the monster. By the end, Frankenstein’s fate obviously keeps him from telling about the end of the monster, and the monster cannot give us the outside viewpoint of himself that Walton can. The viewpoints between Frankenstein and the monster can be for a lot of different reasons. One commonly noted is to allow for conflict WHILE making the monster more sympathetic. It is my personal belief that Frankenstein’s monster is meant as a warning for going into things you do not understand and reaching too far (given the time period it was written in, and the changes in scientific and educational goals), so Frankenstein’s view is important, to see how he laments what he has done, but the monster’s view is also important to see how he attempts to cope with the world and the effect the world has on him.
