Why does Mars have such a thin atmosphere when it used to be much thicker?
Mars has a thin atmosphere now because there is less heat and light energy reaching it now for reasons unknown to man as of now. The less energy gases have the less chance of being in a gaseous state. As gases lose energy they start to precipitate or condense into a liquid and then into a solid. Most of Mar’s atmosphere has condensed into those ice caps you see on the planet and lots of it is also underground.
