Why does marble rarely contain fossils?

0

Because marble is a metamorphic rock, as has been said. Marble forms when a limestone (sedimentary rock often full of fossils) is subjected to heat and pressure. This causes the calcite to recrystallise, and wipes out all but faint traces of the largest fossils in the process.
