Why does Luv My Pet not offer Lyme vaccine?
Lyme is not a core vaccine. It is also not necessary in the majority of dogs. Prevention of ticks is the preferred method of prevention of Lyme disease. Even Angell Memorial and University vet schools do not have Lyme has an annual vaccine for the general population. There is also controversy over the vaccine’s effectiveness, and the danger of the dogs that receive the vaccine while having a positive titer that in some cases leads to serious complications, and even death. We would like to be able to be responsive to your individual needs in this situation; however, we cannot. We must balance the good of the whole, with our mission of providing only the core vaccines to keep a pet free of the most common diseases at an affordable price. We do not mean to replace the traditional veterinary facility, and feel strongly that certain procedures and services must remain in those facilities.
