Why does low pressure bring higher cloud cover and higher rainfall?
a low pressure system is caused by air becoming heated forming warm air which causes it to rise.as the air rises it is carrying water vapour within it which condenses at high altitudes to form clouds.now that the warm air is up high in the atmosphere it cools and it then drops the condensed water vapour in the clouds as rain.an area of low pressure is called a depression. an area of high pressure is made up of descending air. this air is originally cold and does not contain water droplets(it fell as rain). the air is heated as it descends and this warm air prevents condensation of water on the surface and therefore stops the formation of clouds.
