Why does land along the coast of an ocean or large lake have more powerful storms?

0

Powerful storms like hurricanes, cyclones etc are formed in the ocean or large lakes. When these powerful storms enter into land surface these storms will hit the coastal areas first because the coastal areas are located near to the sea so coastal areas will have more powerful storms but as soon as these powerful storms crosses the coastal areas these storms will loses its energy due to the lack of moisture so thus the interior land areas will have the weak storms.
