Why does it have to be in Wanstead Flats?
Wanstead Flats has been chosen because of its close proximity to the Olympic Park/Westfield area, as well as Victoria Park where supporting Olympic events are taking place. It is also close to Stratford, a major transport hub. Importantly, it is not too close to residential/built-up areas and the estimated damages to the Flats, whether physical or ecological, are minimal.
