Why does it cost more to have a natural stone tile installation than a ceramic/porcelain installation?
While both require a firm and level setting bed, this is more important for natural stone. The stone is brittle by nature and the minerals that make up its pattern are not perfectly “cemented” to each other, so it is subject to fracture along the grain lines. Setting materials and time involved drive the price of installation higher.
