Why does Iron Maiden have three guitarists?
Iron Maiden has three guitarists because they believe in musical melody rather than plain noise. Basically, their setup is having Steve Harris playing his own thing on bass, rhythm guitarist playing the simple backup chords, and then two guitars playing a two-octave-higher (just means higher in pitch) melody either together or in contrast. Listen to the intro and secondary intro to The Trooper and see if you understand.
