Why does iPhoto start up when iPod touch is connected to iMac to charge?

When I connect my new iPod Touch to my iMac to charge, iPhoto pops up. Can I turn this off somewhere? I tried finding something in the iPhoto preferences but couldn’t find anything. Thanks so much.
