Why does imprinting involve kids in the Twilight Series?
As the other people said, it can happen with anyone. I also found the whole Quil/Claire and Jacob/Renesmee age thing a little disturbing because you would think imprinting has a romantic element to it. Apparently, when the objects of imprinting are young, the wolves protective, rather than romantic about them. I still don’t entirely understand when that feeling of guardianship turns into something romantic. Stephenie Meyer doesn’t really explain it. I also don’t understand why Jacob imprinted on Renesmee the moment she was born when Quil imprinted on Claire when she was two. Had Quil not seen Claire before that? Why couldn’t the imprinting process have been put off until the two girls were older? I guess the main thing to remember is that it’s involuntary. Both Claire and Renesmee can choose to see other men when they’re older if they want to.
