Why does imp use a peer-to-peer network rather than traditional, server-based one?

Because imp promotes media through distribution of Tasters, we needed a faster way to distribute large amounts of content. Through a new system called BitTorrent, everyone on our network hosts a little bit of the total content and then we’re able to distribute it very quickly. BitTorrent inverts the traditional issue of more users making a system run more slowly, because not everyone is coming to one place to get the same information. In fact, the more users sharing content, the faster you get the content you want. In short, we control what files are in the system, and our users help distribute them.
