Why does HIP call itself a ‘transnational association of grantmakers’?
A transnational network of grantmakers spans borders and recognizes the critical importance of transnational collaboration in problem solving. We live in a global economy, in which many individuals and communities have “their feet in two places at the same time” and where issues of poverty, human rights, and the environment transcend national borders. A transnational network of grantmakers recognizes that this cross-border interplay of ideas and resources is an integral part of today’s society and must be acknowledged and incorporated into philanthropic efforts. • What is a site and how many does HIP currently have? A site is a geographic area in which the HIP Funders’ Collaborative for Strong Latino Communities makes grants.
