Why does HDFC Bank refuse to understand the difference between an ATM card and a Debit Card ?
I had specifically asked HDFC Bank to provide me an ATM card and NOT a Debit card and now I get an SMS stating that that ‘ATM/Debit Card’ PIN has been dispatched to me. What the heck, Does HDFC Bank not understand the difference between a Debit card and an ATM card in spite of specifically filling in an application form at the Lower Parel Branch asking only for an ATM Card ? When I tried applying for an ATM card in person at the Lower Parel Branch of HDFC Bank, I was first told by the customer service desk at the Lower Parel Branch that HDFC bank does not provide ATM cards but only Debit cards. I polietly explained to them that as thier client my requirement was an ATM card and not a Debit Card and finally they agreed that in ‘special cases’ they do provide ATM cards.. Since at the time of application for this ATM card, I had run out of check book leaves and I did not have any means of withdrawing cash otherwise, I wanted HDFC bank consider mine as thier so called ‘special case’.
