Why does Greece continue to refuse to recognize the independence of Macedonia?
Greece does not refuse to recognize the sovereignty of Macedonia. But they do insist that FYROM choose a name that would not conflict with Macedonia which has been a part of Greece for thousands of years. Greece has bent over backwards a hundred times in this situation. But FYROM has some people in its government who just don’t care about history or right or wrong thinking. This seems to happen a lot when you have a former Communist Country trying to establish relationships with Capitalistic Western Powers such as the EU.
