Why does Great River Electronics use transformers in mic preamps and equalizers?

We’ve listened to a lot of mic pres/EQs, and the units with transformers – especially “big iron”, or appropriately large, well-made transformers – sound best for nearly all audio applications. The NV Series products were modeled on vintage transformer-based units, and we wanted to stay true to that (while improving the clarity with modern materials). Transformers also have a very good Common Mode Rejection Ratio (CMRR), which is important for rejecting noise from external sources.
