Why does God always answer imaginary prayers like Salvation and Forgiveness?
5 years ago, my daughter completely lost hearing in her right ear. She is a child who loves music, she loves to sing, she loves to play instruments. It wasn’t a gradual hearing lost, but happened over about a week. For two weeks, she couldn’t hear out of that ear. Two elders of our church layed hands on her, she felt heat in her ear, intense heat. They prayed not just for a return in hearing, but for better hearing, so that all will know this is God. The next day, she could hear. We took her back to the doctor and she could here well above and below ‘normal ranges’ for a human. The doctor was stunned. She now plays 4 different instruments: bass guitar, electric guitar, alto clarinet, alto saxophone. Her talent is amazing, I can’t wait to see what God has in mind for her.
God isn’t some cosmic vending machine that we ask for things and get them. If Christians are telling you that they always get what they ask for they are lying. A part of prayer is for asking for things, but it’s only a small part. Prayer is really for building a relationship. This is where those who do the repetitive prayer thing are wrong. God doesn’t want us to repeat the same chants over and over again as some believe. The Bible tells us NOT to repeat ourselves, but that God wants us to come to God to share our troubles, to share our joys, to ask for his help, and to LISTEN. It’s all about building a relationship with God, the creator of the universe, through his son, Jesus Christ. When I pray, I pray about how I’m feeling at the moment, sharing with God what’s going on in my mind. Then I focus on who he is and the great things he has done. Next I move to examining the things inside of me that I need to deal with – greed, envy, unconfessed sin. By this time, I’m reminded of who God
