Why does Forever21.com need me to email an authorization code or fax a copy of my credit card?
This is definitely due to the dollar amount of the sale. Sometimes if it is the first “large” purchase with a particular credit card, or if you are nearing your credit limit, merchants will require an authorization code from the credit card company. When you call they will typically ask for the card number, name on the card, and amount of sale. Only two people are allowed to call, the customer or the merchant (in this case the Forever 21 sales representative), which is why they asked for (alternatively) a faxed copy of the credit card so they can call your bank and get the code themselves if you are unable to supply them with one. A small note about the stolen purse bit….if someone stole your purse, they still wouldn’t have access to the e-mail address you provided Forever 21 with. Forever 21 doesn’t accept faxed copies of credit cards as a form of payment, they would ONLY be using it to get the authorization code for this purchase from your bank (which you need the card number and t
