Why does Ford Motors launch outdated car models in India, the second largest market in the World?
The Indian market is highly price sensitive. It is possible that Ford managed to reduce the cost of the car by shipping the “old” tooling for the bumpers etc. from Europe to India, and manufacturing the parts in India (reduced labour rates, no import duty). Alternatively, it could be that their market research suggested that the target customer for Fusion in India preferred the “cleaner”, less utilitarian look of the old bumpers and side mouldings, so they were retained for India when the new interior was introduced.
