The intensity of autumn leaf color is a result of temperature and moisture during the fall.The best colors develop when the day temperatures are warm and the night temperatures are cool below 45 F but above freezing, and the soil has plenty of moisture. The more days with these kind of conditions the better and more intense the fall colors will be.
