Why does Excel seem to ignore formatting that I apply to only part of a cell (e.g. bold or italics on one word of a cell)?

This is due to a limitation of the Toolkit’s AutoColor feature. AutoColor does not currently preserve all character properties within a cell (e.g. when only portion of the text in a cell is made bold). For efficiency, only font color, superscripts and subscripts are preserved at the character level within a cell. You can turn off the AutoColor feature by selecting the Tools | Deactivate AutoColor menu option.
