Why does Emory Village need revitalizing?
The Village has the potential to be a vibrant commercial center located in DeKalb County, near Decatur, and adjacent to Emory University and Druid Hills, a historic residential neighborhood of great beauty. But the Villages commercial area clearly is not as attractive or alive as it should be. Patrons need to be able to safely walk, bike or drive and park in the Village. Pedestrian and bicycle access should be improved. Businesses face limited growth due to a lack of apartments/condos within walking distance, as well as chronic parking shortages.
